-The route-

Start A: Café Aran

Well known to many from various locations in Upper Bavaria, Aran is located directly on the waterfront in Tegernsee and is one of my favorite places. You can sit right by the large white-framed windows, if you can get a table, or alternatively at the large table also by the window, or inside on the large brown sofa—there are many beautiful corners to choose from. The menu includes bread with spreads and cakes, accompanied by coffee, chai latte, and, if you like, a glass of wine. It's a shame that it doesn't stay open as a bar until late in the evening, as it would be ideal for that!

Destination B: Bad Wiessee fishery

From Thursday to Sunday, the restaurant at the Tegernsee fishery, located on the shore of the lake in Bad Wiessee, also known as Bistro Mai Liabba, serves a selection of local and international fish in excellent dishes from 12 noon to 5 p.m. Of course, there is always a good drop of wine to accompany the meal, and the occasional bottle of champagne is also opened here. The small, cozy restaurant fills up quickly in winter, so be sure to make a reservation. In summer, there is plenty of space at the tables outside in the park.

-The following food spots can be found along the way-

1. Voitlhof

Similar to the Aibl Alm, the Voitlhof serves traditional local dishes, from roast meat with spaetzle, dumplings, and Schmarrn. What makes this place special is that the old house was dismantled in Brixlegg/Tyrol in 2016 and rebuilt on Lake Tegernsee. The interior is rustic and cozy. In summer, you can sit on a beautiful terrace and the kids have their own playground. Anyone else looking for traditional costumes will definitely find what they are looking for at the Wiesner hat shop in the upper part of the building.

2. Haubentaucher

No secret, my absolute favorite. Lois, himself a Michelin-starred chef, and his team “settled in” a few years ago in an old boathouse on Seestraße in Rottach. In keeping with the lake vibe, the interior is decorated in shades of blue and furnished with lots of wood and glass. With just 15 tables inside, the time you spend here feels more like a visit to friends. In summer, when the weather is good, you can sit on the small terrace.

Even after receiving multiple star awards, Lois remains an extremely friendly and approachable companion who carries his own life story with him and enjoys greeting his guests personally. The lunch menu is small but exquisite, always prepared with the finest ingredients and great taste, while the evening menu is always a little culinary journey that, like any journey, leaves you feeling inspired. Be sure to reserve in advance.

3. Kramerei

There is a small shop with a new owner at the end of Seestraße in Rottach, which for a long time was a grocery store offering hand-picked food, newspapers, and a few other everyday items. Today, it is more of a coffee shop and, in the afternoons, especially when the sun is shining, a small daytime bar where you can take your Aperol to the water's edge and sit on one of the benches.

4. Gardone Pizzeria in Tegernsee

As part of the play area for children and teenagers belonging to Bachmaier Weissach, Gardone serves Italian classics as well as wonderful wood-fired pizza, freshly prepared from the restaurant's own sourdough. If you love pizza, you're in good hands here.
